Altered nautical clipboard…

How To Create An Altered Nautical Clipboard

Hello crafty friends

I am guest designer Katie Lamb for Thompson Craft Supplies for this month and my first project is an altered clipboard using Scrapberry’s Primavera and 7 gypsies Maritime paper pads

My own blog can be found at:

1) Paint the clipboard with white gesso

2) Paint the clipboard a sea green colour using acrylic paint

3) Paint  over with crackle glaze

4) Paint the clip with gesso and then with the Art Alchemy Mermaid Sparkle Acrylic paint.

5) Mix a little Mermaid Sparkle with modeling paste and use a mini stencil to apply to the clip.

6) Cut a large rectangle from the 7gypsies Maritime paper pad and adhere to clipboard

7) Cut out a polaroid frame using a die and mount the photo onto it.

8) Cut out a strip of patterned paper from the Maritime paper pad and add a lace boarder using a punch.

9) Cut out a small square from the Primavera pad and adhere behind photo.

10) Take a piece of cheese cloth and dye it with spritzing ink and glue these near the photo.

11) Add a stencil around the paper layers using a mini mask and modeling paste.

11) Decorate the clip with a variety of embelishments

12) Paint the lighthouse with Mermaid Sparkle and once dry add a layer of crackle glaze.

13) Spritz blue mist spray over a paper flower and adhere at base of the lighthouse.

14) Decorate with shells

15) Fill a tiny glass bottle with 2 mm seed beads and glue to clipboard

16) Add a few more embellishments to finish.

Stencils inspiration…

Stencils are one of my favourite tools for crafting. Using mediums such as paints, gels, pastes, ink sprays and pads, embossing powders and crayons with our stencils we can quickly add further interest to our projects. Here are some great items we have at

Stencils can be used to add pattern, pictures and texture to our work.

In the above project gel was used through a checker stencil to add extra interest to the edges of the page

The diamond pattern on the above project was using a stencil and embossing powders

Finally in this project texture paste was used through a stencil to great the cog pattern

Why not give stencils a go 🙂
